Hannah O'Malley
Hannah brings extensive backend expertise and a wealth of experience to her role.
Like some of the best people, Hannah came to development via the scenic route. Starting out out in media, Hannah quickly found herself captivated by what the web team was building — so she made the leap and never looked back.
Since then, she’s built up a formidable technical toolkit: JavaScript, React, React Native, Python, Django, Wagtail, AWS, PHP, PostgreSQL, DevOps, and more, accumulated across freelance work, large Partners, and a long string of very cool passion projects. Hannah has a particular talent for working across the full stack and across contexts — from scrappy startups to mission-driven organisations, from polished production apps to charity platforms that support thousands.
Hannah’s skills don’t stop at coding. She’s a natural organiser and community builder — she founded and ran an annual convention, led online and offline events, and has a genuine gift for documentation and mentoring that makes her the kind of developer that the rest of the team love working alongside.
Outside of work, Hannah has those those passion projects to keep her busy, as well as video editing (20 years and counting) and writing what she calls 'kind of sci-fi'. Her cat Pie shares the home office. Pie handles fireworks with calm composure. Cooked egg is, for reasons that remain unexplained, a different matter entirely
