Which AI is safe for the Third Sector?
The charity sector is facing a critical moment. Whilst artificial intelligence promises transformative potential, it’s creating a widening divide that threatens the sustainability of smaller organisations.

A centralised application platform for Justice & Peace’s Shelter City network to support their human rights defenders across the world
Justice & Peace’s network Shelter City ran its application process city by city, on spreadsheets. We replaced that with one centralised system covering all 29 cities - where people can apply once, staff can process and review applications, and Shelter City can see the picture across its whole network. What each person sees depends on their role and their city.
Sudan civic space monitoring: AI helping to fill the gap when crisis strikes
When war forced Sudan's civic space monitoring team to flee, years of vital human rights work faced extinction. We were asked to step in and built an AI tool that will fill the gap that this crisis created—not replacing wanted jobs, but enabling work that to continue when real people were no longer able to do. The system monitors news, identifies civic freedom implications, and tracks developments, with humans reviewing everything before it goes live. What once took hours will take seconds, allowing a scattered team with reduced capacity to continue protecting democratic freedoms remotely.
Bat Conservation Trust: Helpline
Together with the Bat Conservation Trust, we crafted a bespoke helpline database that transforms how they support Britain's precious bat populations. Replacing their outdated system, our solution makes life easier for everyone—from the dedicated volunteers answering calls to the bats themselves. The new platform guides call handlers with intuitive forms, captures rich data for reporting, and has simplified volunteer training from a 100-page manual to just three pages. With over over a million lines of data carefully migrated, this project shows how thoughtful digital solutions can help protect our vital UK wildlife through better data and more personal support.

Photos for ActionAid to tell stories from Gaza
5 days spent. 7,000 km traveled. 2,000 photos taken. 1 campaign image library delivered.
As ActionAid UK prepared for their Christmas fundraising appeal, they wanted to tell the kind of moving stories that help connect supporters and donors with the people ActionAid serve. To do that they needed powerful stories and bold, beautiful imagery.
